Piston Coating - Thermal Barrier Processes
Embee Performance provides a number of thermal barrier coating options for high-performance engine pistons.
Piston coating is the process of applying a dry film lubricant to the piston skirt, which reduces friction and keeps engine temperatures down during high performance operation. Also known as printing, skirt coating or antifriction coating, the process extends the life of high performance engines due to reduced friction between the piston and the cylinder sleeve.
EPC 108 - This combustion chamber coating is applied on the piston crown, valve face and stem, and exhaust port and chamber. This thermal barrier process reflects heat into the combustion chamber, which increases exhaust gas velocity and greatly improves engine scavenging potential.
EPC 102 - This is a coating combination consisting of Embee's EPC 100 antifriction coating and EPC 108 thermal barrier coating. This treatment withstands 2100 degrees and reflects heat into the combustion chamber. This promotes even thermal expansion, increasing part life, and exhaust gas scavenging.
EPC 104 - This coating process combines Embee's EPC 107 antifriction application and EPC 108 coating. This thermal barrier duo also withstands 2100 degrees and reflects heat into the combustion chamber, thus promoting even thermal expansion, increasing part life, and exhaust gas scavenging.
